Interview with Becky Jarrett 17th January 2004

This interview was done to Mew's Symmetry a Mew fansite, enjoy..

Mew's Symmetry: How are u?

Becky: I'm good. Life can definitely be hard sometimes, but for the most part life is good.

MS: Yeah I totally agree with that!!

Becky: I can't stand to be bored, but I stay busy all the time! haha A little time to myself
every now and then would be nice!

MS: So and tell me how did you get to meet the guys from Mew?

Becky: hehe ok, the story is pretty long, but i'll try to make it short!

MS: lol I'm not in a hurry

Becky: Ok,I was 11 and I use to LOVE to chat on like chat lines, I was a big Hanson fan I
have to admit :} haha

Becky: So I would like to get on music chat lines and talk to other Hanson fans

MS: lololol we all have those things I had the BSB syndrome so..

Becky: haha, well I asked did anyone like Hanson? and no one replied..
then this one guy (Jonas) private messaged me and said: "No, but what other music
do you like?"

MS: hehe so nice!!!

Becky: so we started chatting and I told him I sang, and he told me he had a band
and that he would like to hear me sing, so I sent him a video of me singing and
after a lot of emails and phone calls, he asked if I would sing on their next album
he sent me a demo of the song and of course I loved it ( it's beautiful)

MS: gizz it is

Becky: and so my mom and I decided to fly to Copenhagen when I was 13 and I recorded
Symmetry, in a REAL studio *laugh*. That was such an experience to me..

MS: haha WOW yeah so SPECIAL!!

Becky: And better yet, Jonas let my mom and I stay in his apartment so we wouldn't
have to pay money to stay in a hotel and he stayed with his parents. Europe was so
beautiful! I want to go back.

MS: First let me congratulate you for the fantastic mother you have!!

Becky: Thanks, she's great.

MS: Indeed!!
Tell me how did that experience change your life? I bet it changed it completly.

Becky: Well, I was like in the newspaper here (which is not that big of a deal
because i live in a small town),but..I had a guy hear about me in a big town and
he came down and did an interview on me! So I got like in a big paper!
It was nice, I don't know..

MS: great!!

Becky: After the album was released, I started getting "fanmail" and that was weird
but I love that kind of stuff, it makes me feel so good, and I would like to have an
album of my own one day, so it just made me get a little taste of like the music
industry, and just made me want it even more

MS: With your voice, trust me I'm sure you will.

Becky: Thank you!

MS: And at school did u feel like you had now a different status in the eyes of your
collegues? 'cause ppl can be mean for sometimes..

Becky: No not really, like at first, people did kind of think you know, "what's the
big deal" or "she thinks she's something", but of course I was like in 8th grade and
we were all young, but now it's not like anything, most people don't even remember I
did that! haha

MS: Frengers is becoming huge!! I'm sure it will get to the states!!

Becky: I'm so happy for them, they are really a great group of guys, I hope so!

MS: They sure are.. even though I dont know them lol
Are you still in contact with the guys?

Becky: I stay in contact with Jonas.

MS: Thats great!! For the moment did u collaborate with other musical projects?

Becky: Nope.

MS: What are your big plans for life now?

Becky: um, I'm not really sure. I would like to someday be apart of the music business
that would be nice, if that doesn't work out I'll be a music teacher, but it will be something
with music

MS: Great and dont be pessimistic I'm sure it will work, it started so well..
Whats your favourite Mew song?

Becky: "She Came Home for Christmas", "Eight flew over one was destroyed", those are my
two faves.

MS: They are great indeed. I'm a huge mew fan, so as you can imagine it is a huge pleasure
to get to talk to you right now.

Becky: Well thank you.

MS: Thank you so much for the interview, I liked it a lot, you're so kool . I had lot more to ask

I was going to ask you if you are plannig to move in to Europe? As you have lots of
success here..

Becky: haha, no..but for my graduation present. My mom and I are planning on flying over
there to see Mew in concert! I'm so excited.

MS: Yeah that excites me too as I never had the chance to see them live, but I will next
time they come.
